Megan Rose is Here!

After a swift labor and an even quicker delivery (3 minutes pushing), our daughter arrived without complications. All fingers and toes are accounted for. The number of limbs is correct. Two eyes, one nose, one tongue and a heck of a good girl is what we got. We are lucky already.

I like to talk about a soul’s age on little ones like her. She has an old, wise soul that must know English because she seems to understand what I tell her. She seems so comfortable being that I have to say she has been around here before, many times. She is better at the breastfeeding thing than I am, knows the drill on diaper changes and was completely calm and relaxed during her first bath, as if she was in a spa getting a deluxe treatment.

My heart must have doubled in size since she arrived because my love for her is infinite, just like the I love I feel for my awesome, amazing Jaime.

Stats:

Arrival date: 2/16 Time: 12:36 am Weight: 8 lbs 13 oz. Height: 21 inches.

Here is a pic.

Potty, Work and Baby

Jaime is having a good time with the potty and flushing. He pees in installments instead of doing it all at once. Each time he claps of happiness and makes Michael “deposit” his pee in the toilet so Jaime can flush and close the lid violently.  This process repeats 3 to 5 times before he runs out of pee.  I just sit and watch and giggle. Michael wants me to help with the pee-on-installments duty.  Hmmm … where is my pregnant card? Oh, here it is and I am flagging it. :)

On pregnancy - Yuck. It is hard to be on the pregnant train and have to ride it ’til the end when you feel sick. I dream of days with no acid indigestion, no nausea, no repugnant feelings towards smells and foods. I dream of days with no backaches and no sore feet while having enough energy to keep up with Jaime, Michael, the dogs and house chores all at once.  I dream of good wiping days and awesome restful nights. I dream of having this little girl in my arms and knowing that my reproductive duties are complete and behind me.  I dream of looking good again and wearing high heels and sharp suits at work. I dream of seeing Jaime loving his sister and being loved back the same.

I am 23 weeks in, and 17 left to go … over the hump already. Yay!  It is time to start organizing the house for the arrival of this little princess.

We Are Happy, Happy!

Our baby is healthy and thriving and …

CVS (Not the Pharmacy)

I just realized that we have not made it official yet the latest news in the Stover Family. Mike and I are expecting our second child! :) We are excited with the prospect of having another little one in the house and giving Jaime a sibling.

Today the baby got tested for genetic defects. I underwent a procedure called Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS), which collects genetic information about the baby. The procedure was not really painful, but it was a bit scary to me, not to mention having to endure an extremely full bladder for about 2 hours. The testing is done earlier than the amniocentesis and it is newer as well ,that is why you may not have heard of it.

I need to rest for 48 hours and cannot pick Jaime up. Results will be in in about 10 days. We are positive we will get good news. Now the only question we have is … Do we want to know if the little one moving inside me is a girl or a boy?
